Watch out for boat traffic when crossing the fairway and maintain a safe distance from other boats by waiting for a suitable opportunity to pass. Take the opportunity to enjoy an early morning along Dalboberget or a late afternoon when Lake Vänern is calm and the evening sun shines along Skräcklan and Hallebergssidan.
Tips for your paddling in Vänersborg:
- Suggested day trip:Paddle along the eastern side of Lake Vänern with the evening sun, passing Skräcklan and small islands. NOTE: Be cautious of strong currents towards Vargön. DANGER! Avoid this area! Then follow the edge along Halleberg; after about an hour of paddling, you'll reach Nordkroken, and further up, after rounding Hallesnipen, you'll find Gaddesanna—both beautiful beaches (a must see).
- Suggested long-distance trip with overnight stay: Paddle along the western side of Lake Vänern. Cross the fairway, paddle to Dalbobergen. Continue to Grönvik small boat harbor. Carry on to beautiful Ursand with its campground, café, and restaurant. Then proceed north along the western side to Sjung-Sjung and finally to the nice bathing spot at Sikhalls.

- Adjust your paddling based on wind strength, wind direction, and boat traffic.
- Always use the cover (located in the kayak). Attach it high above your waist and ensure a tight fit around the cockpit rim.
- Our tandem kayaks are a better option than single kayaks for inexperienced paddlers as they are more stable and handle side waves better.
- We are located at Skräcklan, near Norra skolan in central Vänersborg. There is a small beach for launching and a restroom.
- Park in the city center at the square or along the streets around Skräcklan. There is free parking at Sanden. During the summer, Skräcklestugan is open every day, offering good food and refreshments.
