Dressage course in two sections
Day trip
You can choose between two routes: - Torvedsbanan runs south along the Gullspångsälven river and is about 12.5 km long one way.- Trelänsbanan is about 38 km long and goes north with the final station in Degerfors. If you do not want to cycle so far, it is possible to turn the dressage and cycle back whenever you wish. You pedal about 10km per hour.
Torvedsbanan - Southern track
The first kilometer out of Gullspång you hit the only uphill on the entire course! However, you will be richly rewarded when you have made your way up and arrive at the beautiful Gullspång River. The course is drawn right at the edge of the river and after a few more kilometers you will arrive at the first rest area at the bathing place in Skagersvik. Here you can swim, have a barbecue or visit the toilet. The trail then continues along a small bay of Lake Skagerrak past the community, which is aptly named Skagersvik!
On the other side of the bay is Ribbingsfors Manor where the author Frans G Bengtsson lived the last part of his life. He is buried in Gullspång and there is also a memorial library. Ribbingsfors Manor now has a beautiful 9-hole golf course with a lunch restaurant in summer.
Over the meadows, the course then continues towards Midskogs station, the old station is preserved. There are also coffee tables and toilets.
Trelänsbanan - Northern course
On the way out of Gullspång you cross the old railroad bridge over Gullspångsälven. You pass the Laxtrappan, which was built in the old rapids so that Gullspång salmon can migrate up and spawn.
The tour then continues past Löksta farm and with the highway between us and Gullspångsälven, the track crosses the border from Västergötland to Värmland. About 13 km from Gullspång is Värmlands Säby Herrgård. After a few kilometers is Konsterud. There is a rest area here.
Through the primeval forest the track continues to Nysund. This is the highest point on the track. Here is the old water horse left from the steam locomotive era and also an old railroad guard cabin.
The journey continues over Stormossen, a beautiful wilderness rest area at Mosstorp (about 30 km from Gullspång). The next resting place is at Håkanbol. There is the opportunity for a coffee break at Löfbergs Handelsmuseum which in summer has coffee service.
Past the artificial Håkanbol lake through very beautiful scenery, you pass Mobråten's and Älgåsen's railway guard huts and after Högberg's station and Högbergskärret you arrive at the terminus in Ängebäck, a few kilometers outside Degerfors center.
Dressage skiing suits everyone
You ride two on each trolley, one pedaling and one sitting on a bench next to it. It is also possible to be two adults and one child per trolley. The trolley ride is therefore suitable for all ages. Unfortunately, the family dog has to stay at home.
