Close to the city center
Park at Lidköpings Gästhamn and then follow the footpath and cycle path towards Kronocampingen. If it's nice and warm, you might even want to start by relaxing for a while on the sun piers by the harbor. First you come to Framnäs Strandpark which was opened in 2024. Here you can enjoy and perhaps take a dip in Lake Vänern from the fine sandy beach. On the way to the campsite you pass the back of the Vänermuseet. The campsite's own restaurant, Sjökanten, opens for the season just in time for Easter and opening hours can be found here. Here you can either choose to fill your stomach indoors in the restaurant, outdoors or buy to take away to enjoy on the picnic blanket. Below the campsite along the shore of Lake Vänern there is also an outdoor gym for the whole family and not far from there is a barbecue area with benches.
When you walk away to the boatyard, the trail connects to Bäckvägen and then to Kinneviksvägen, which you follow for just under a kilometer (see trail map). Then turn right and follow the signs Strandpromenad. Wooden footbridges over the reeds will now take you on towards Villabadet. Someone who feels like a swim perhaps? Here is the view of Kinneviken with Kinnekulle strikingly beautiful, a perfect place to set up the picnic blanket. If you don't have your picnic basket with you, Skogshyddan is just a few hundred meters from Villabadet, just continue along the beach and then turn left. Here you can buy ice cream, filling sandwiches or enjoy a cup of coffee. The large garden next to Villaparken offers several places to sit in peace and quiet. You can also challenge each other to a round of miniature golf on the newly renovated bangolf course. Take a stroll through the dreamy park too, which is particularly beautiful in spring when the buds are bursting and the anemones are painting the ground green and white. Be prepared with your camera as you can get some truly magical shots here.
It is suggested that you now take the bus back to the center which starts from the stop Skogshyddan by the road, otherwise you just walk back the same beautiful way.
