Pottery, shop and café in central Kristinehamn – enjoy fine coffee, treats and handmade ceramics by a Nordic master potter.
Pottery & coffee
In a charming red wooden house in the centre of Kristinehamn, you’ll find Krukmakeri Hemjord – a cosy place that is both a pottery studio, café and shop. It is run by Annbritt Schmützer, a Nordic master potter, and her coffee loving-partner Björn.
Award-winning ceramics
Annbritt is a self-taught potter who has won 15 pottery competitions in Sweden and Italy. She has the rare title of Nordic throwing champion – a prize given for creating the tallest and widest clay pieces within a time limit. In the shop, you’ll find her handmade cups, bowls, teapots, lanterns and lamps. A visitor favourite is the “Kristinehamn silhouette” – beautiful lanterns with local buildings and landmarks cut out.
Cosy café with local flavour
In the café, you can enjoy high-quality coffee, tea, organic ice cream, chocolate, liquorice and homemade pastries – all served on Annbritt’s own ceramics. Björn has chosen every product with care. There are only a few tables, but the atmosphere is friendly and peaceful.
Everything made on site
The building is divided into three parts: café, shop and studio. Everything is made right here – from throwing and glazing to firing the clay in the kiln. You can shop for unique gifts while seeing how the pottery is made.
Courses and tastings
Krukmakeri Hemjord also offers pottery workshops, private lessons, and tastings of chocolate and liquorice – a fun activity for couples, friends or small groups looking for something special.
Accessible and welcoming
Dogs are welcome, both indoors and outside. Vegan and vegetarian options are available. A ramp can be placed outside for easier access. Takeaway is possible if you want to enjoy your coffee in the park or by the water.
