Sweden's first Episcopal Church
The church with its mighty triple tower from the 11th century is Sweden's first episcopal church. The first church was a stave church and was replaced in the early 12th century by a nave with an apsidal chancel, built in Romanesque style. The current tower is the oldest, built in the 11th century. In the northern wall of the triumphal arch there is a so-called ambo - medieval pulpit. The baptismal font and the triumphal crucifix are from the 13th century, as is the old bishop's chair, one of Sweden's oldest pieces of furniture. There is a communion window from the Middle Ages. You can see the beautiful ceiling paintings and the medieval furniture and objects. St. Sigfrid's spring, where Olof Skötkonung was baptized, is located just northeast of the church.
Near the church are also the ruins of the castle built around 1480 by the Bishop of Skara.
There is also a pilgrimage route between Husaby and Forshem.
