Beautiful viewpoint at Västerplana Storäng

Hastings Church, overlooking Kinneviken, is located in the nature reserve Västerplana Storäng on Kinnekulle. The hiking trail passes a bit away and this sandstone brittle rises 25 meters above Vänern. The quantity is bordered by the railway, and the fields extend beyond the road. When Carl von Linnaeus visited the site in 1746, the area was three times larger than today, and traces of ancient cultivation remain in the form of the cultivation threshold.

The surrounding cliffs have sometimes been similar to churches, and the highest point, known as the "Horses" or "Hästhall", was an important sea mark. The name "Hastings Church" can refer to Västerplana Church, whose towers are visible from the lake. Today there is a wooden cross where open air services have been held, but no church has been here.

Linnaeus mentioned the site as "Hesling's Church" in 1746, probably due to a rock formation similar to a church. It is unclear whether this is exactly the same place.
