Picturesque, historic former industrial environment
Handicrafts & art in a historic setting
This former industrial environment is home to 12 different handicraft shops. Inside you will encounter the craftspeople themselves, who are happy to show you what they have to offer and demonstrate their skills on several occasions during the season.
Falkängens Hantverksby is made up of eight buildings, all from the turn of the century and formerly homes for employees at the cement factory. All the houses have been restored in authentic style and the former dwellings with entrances onto the street now house 12 different handicraft collectives. Craftspeople from across the country can rent the premises, and they exhibit and sell their work throughout the summer. Some collectives also carry out handicraft production on site.
Hostel accommodation and much more!
Falkängen has a cosy coffee shop with a large outdoor seating area, and an excellent youth hostel with around 120 beds, two function rooms and two conference rooms. Falkängen also boasts a carriage museum, a herb garden, a heritage museum and a fossil and mineral exhibition, primarily covering the geology of Kinnekulle and Västgötabergen.
Market days are held during the year, when additional stalls are set up along Falkängsvägen.
