Information on how to download GPX files
There are two versions of the Vänerleden cycle route (depending on the direction you want to cycle in) that you can download as GPX-files; see the bottom of the page.
Turn-by-turn navigation
Download the GPX file here from our website; see below. Please note! There are two files, one for each direction of travel, so check that you get the one that will guide you in your chosen direction. (In some apps and cycle computers you can change the direction of the file, so if your equipment features that function you will only need to download one file.)
If you have a smartphone, you will receive a question asking what program (app) you want to use to open the file with after downloading it, so select your navigation app.
Vänerleden will now be saved as an alternative route in your smartphone that you can use when you visit us for a cycling trip.
Positioning
If you don’t have a program in your smartphone that can read GPX files, there are several versions that you can download free of charge from app stores. One app that is simple, free and used by many is called GPX Viewer. You can search for it and download it to your phone.
Download one of the GPX files here from the website; see below. It doesn’t matter which one because the app will not instruct you where to cycle and will instead just show your position and the route.
You will receive a question asking what program (app) you want to use to open the file with after downloading it, so select your navigation app (GPX Viewer).
