Restaurang Axel is located inside Stadshotellet in central Kristinehamn – a building designed by the famous Swedish architect Axel Kumlien in the 1800s. The restaurant takes its name from him, and the atmosphere combines historic elegance with modern comfort.
Food and drinks
The restaurant serves hotel breakfast, weekday lunch (except during summer) and à la carte dinner. The menu includes Swedish and international flavours, with vegetarian options and carefully prepared dishes for all tastes.
There is also a wide drink selection, including wines, beers and cocktails – perfect for a relaxing evening or a drink at the bar.
Space and access
There are 66 seats indoors and around 30 on the outdoor terrace, where dogs are welcome. The venue is wheelchair accessible, child-friendly and offers takeaway on selected dishes.
Groups and events
For larger events, adjacent banquet rooms in the hotel can be booked. Kristinasalen – one of Sweden’s best-preserved 19th-century halls – fits 192 guests, and Stora Dam offers seating for up to 72 people.
